Parking News & Updates
The following are recent news stories, updates, and information related to parking and traffic on the NMSU campus. If you have ideas for other improvements, please contact us at (505) 646-1839 or parking@nmsu.edu.
Thanks to extensive student input, NMSU has made numerous changes to campus parking for the 2008-2009 season.
To better accommodate the growing student population, Lots 15, 41, and 42 have converted from “All Permits” to just “Commuter Student” lots. These lots are located at the corner of University and Jordan (15), North of CCSU (41), and East of Breland Hall and across from Chamisa Apartments (42). In addition, Lot 100S, located North of Rentfrow Gym, is now designated for “Commuter/Resident” students only.
Due to rising gas prices, motorcycles have become a more frequent method of travel. You'll find multiple parking spaces dedicated solely to motorcycles throughout campus. Motorcycle permit prices have also decreased more than 50% to just $20.
To address safety concerns, additional lighting will be added to Lot 39, across from Chamisa Apartments, this fall.
A new computer system has also been installed within the NMSU Parking Department to help students, faculty, and staff answer questions and resolve issues with greater care and satisfaction.
Signage throughout the parking areas has been modified to more clearly represent allowed permits.
A complete NMSU parking map, as well as details about NMSU's free parking lots and free shuttle service, is available online at nmsuparking.com or by phone at 646-1839.
